Philosophy

I know from experience that change is difficult. Yet the fascinating thing about change is that change is inevitable. Change is quite possibly the only thing that we as humans cannot control. I believe that there are (for the most) part two ways to change: deliberately or accidentally. When a client chooses to come to therapy for change, it is my job and honor as a therapist to help the client deliberately make the changes that they desire. The changes can be emotional, behavioral, interpersonal or insight oriented. In my practice, I feel the most honored when a client can look me in the eyes and say “Kendrick, I don’t need you anymore, this change is permanent”.
I use an individualized approach to therapy always doing my best to learn and implement what works best for the client. Most of my treatment methods are heavily influenced by Existential Psychotherapy, CBT, TF-CBT, DBT and Play Therapy.
