Evidence-based Programs

The following programs have been selected to address our community’s prevention focus areas:

Strengthening Families

Strengthening Families

The Strengthening Families Program (SFP) is an evidence-based skills training program for families with youth ages 7-17. Families attend weekly skills classes together that teach parents skills in bonding, setting clear, firm boundaries, and monitoring their children’s emotional well-being and activities. Youth learn life skills. SFP helps increase protection and reduce risk that leads to substance abuse and youth depression. Davis Behavioral Health hosts these SFP classes.

Add Circle of Security-Parenting

The Circle of Security-Parenting (COSP) program teaches parents how to protect and nurture their relationship with their child while fostering independence, and supporting what emotional needs may be expressed with difficult behavior. Parents will increase their understanding of their child’s emotional world by learning to read their emotional needs, support their child’s ability to successfully manage emotions, and enhance the development of their child’s self-esteem. Parents attend a weekly 2-hour long class for 8 weeks.
